Henry, Richard Engel's 6-Year-Old Son, Died After Fight With Rett Syndrome, According to NBC News

This past May, Engel posted a cute video featuring Henry and his two-year-old sister, Theo.

At the moment, Engel said that Henry's condition had worsened and that Henry had just returned home after six weeks at the hospital.

Engel noted in a subsequent tweet that Henry's cells are being used for an ongoing study into the uncommon condition.

He stated, "Researchers are making remarkable progress using Henry's cells to help cure RETT Syndrome."

“For everyone following Henry’s story, unfortunately, he’s taken a turn for the worse,” Engel wrote at the time.
